Happy Harvest!

Yesterday was our 1st Annual Hoedown Throwdown Harvest Party (say that 10 times fast) and it was an absolute blast! Philip & I hosted it at our house along with the fabulous Andrew & Stephanie Tidwell. It was a fun night of food (lots of yumminess), games, and just chit chatting and cutting up with friends and family. The theme was western so everyone came dressed as cowboys & cowgirls, farmers & farmettes, farm animals and throw in a random Winnie the Pooh and BAM, there ya go! I will say that the creative award must go to Charles Marshall for covering his entire wardrobe in glue and sticking cotton EVERYWHERE. He was a sheep... hilarious! Also the Ridout family were adorable... together they were Charlotte's Web... I will say they are the cutest pig and spider i've ever seen!

While all the fun was going on we had a chili cook-off and everyone's chili was absoluetely delish! Everyone tried a taste of every chili (we had 6 entries) and picked their fave and cast their vote! The winner was thee Ms. Stacie Snipes with her superb White Chicken Chili. It was the talk of the night. A close 2nd place was set by the one & only Carol Brown (my mother-in-law!).

We had a blast and can't wait to have the 2nd annual next year!

October: Packed full of Birthdays and Anniversaries :)

I have lots of celebrations that have already happened in October! I must say, celebrating special days has to be one of my favorite things EVER! So let's get started...
The first celebration was Grandpa Snipes 80th Surprise Birthday Party! This man is so cute with such a big heart and any time I get to see him is so special! And he always has good stories to tell :) So the Snipes family threw a huge shindig to honor is 80th birthday! And boy did they get him good... he was so surprised! We had a jammin' evening of good food (especially the Francis cake... mmm mmm mmm) and lots of dancing! Anywhere there's a DJ, I'm right there!

Next up... Philip and I celebrated our 2nd Wedding Anniversary! It's crazy to think that two years ago we were married. It has gone by so fast and it has been an absolute blast. I am so excited to experience everything in our 3rd year.. and 4th... 5th... 6th... 40th :) You get the picture!

While we're on the topic of weddings... our dearest friends, Drew & Steph, celebrated 6 years of marriage shortly after ours! Happy Anniversary you two lovebirds! We love you so much!

So while we were dancing it up at our wedding... we had two of our very best friends in life, AJ & Jill Ridout, dancing right along beside us... Jill was a ripe 9 months pregnant dancing with the best of them. So the on-going joke is that Jill "cha-cha slided" Molly Brooke right out 2 days after our wedding. So this weekend we celebrated Molly's 2nd birthday! We had a big get together of AJs family and a few of AJ & Jill's close friends at Kanki. It was a blast... Molly was dressed in her red kimono to celebrate in style... so cute!

So now you're up to date... and I'm off to get ready to enjoy this absolutely beautiful Sunday afternoon!

got your tickets to the gunshow?

A trip to the Snipes beach house is always an eventful one! This one was like no other (as of yet)... the 1st Annual Snipes Beach Olympics... SO much fun! We had a great day fellowshipping with great friends on the beach. It was awesome spending time with friends we don't get to see too often... then spend time with our best friends in life and make new ones in the process.

So our team name for the Olympics was the Gunshow... and YES, the Gunshow won (did you expect anything less?) I can't say I took credit for the win... I was off on the sidelines snapping the pictures... but hubby can take some of the credit! Here's a brief recap... there was flag football, 3-legged races with innertubes, some kind of football game (can you tell I had no idea what was going on?), a lacrosse type relay, a chipping contest (for the golfers) and last but DEFINITELY not least... and intense match of tug of war!

Needless to say, when our heads hit the pillow we were out like a light! It was such a fun day and we are so grateful for the Snipes being the awesome hosts that they always are when we come down to visit. Can't wait till next time!

Hello Again (finally!)

Oh blogging world, I have neglected you. And I have so much to fill you in on since March! I can't believe last time I posted it was SNOWING outside... As I write this blog I am wrapping up summertime on the front porch at our lake house in Lake Gaston. The crickets are chirping, the occasional boat is passing by with their red and green lights reflecting on the water, the breeze is blowing through the screen porch and you can hear the faint sound of people laughing across the lake. I love it here. With our busy schedule we won't be able to come back up until Thanksgiving... yowza!!! So I am soaking it all in tonight...

In June we moved (yes, again!) back to North Raleigh from Wake Forest... which was a huge blessing that fell right into our laps... here are our new digs... This was the house that my dad grew up in so I have known this house my whole life so it felt like home immediately.
I guess that's the biggest thing that happened in that 5 month span... I don't want to blab about the past few months, I'll just make a promise to keep you updated in the coming months! Philip and I have just had lots of time hanging with friends (both old and new), trips to the beach and the lake, surprise birthday parties :), new pet ducks, business building, road trips, etc. I couldn't ask for a better life and it will only get better!
Until next time...

Home Sweet Home

So for the past couple of weeks the Brown "family" has packed up our boxes and moved to a new location! No need to worry, we're just down the road! And just in time to make the perfect "First Home" picture, it snowed! So here is our new home, and I will definitely take you on a photo tour at a later date (sooner than later, promise!)... just give me some time to get organized around the house so the pictures are actually good! :)

I hope everyone had fun in the snow! Hopefully it will be the last of the white stuff for this winter... we are definitely looking forward to spring time around here! Don't forget to "SPRING FORWARD" this Saturday night when you go to bed! Hooray!

Tiffany's First Snow!

So I know I'm a little late updating, things get a little busy (productive) around here and I postpone the blogging! But... I couldn't resist posting the pictures from our first snow in 2009. It was absolutely beautiful. I believe we got about 3 inches which is a big deal here in NC! I thought Tiff would be a little hesitant to go out and play since she's so teeny, but she would have stayed out there for HOURS if we didn't force her to come inside.
It was a good day to just hang out, eat yummy food, watch movies, play in the snow, and drink coffee (well, hot chocolate in my case.
